Some gifted children stand
holding their hands trying  to emulate
their teacher dance to the beats of the song
people sympathize  and gather to watch
the innocent ones devoid of the stares or notions
as they wave gently to the novices of their hearts
a while later, the music ends, a loud cheer
a cosmos of sentiments hover around
the crowd disperse with the fall of the curtains
we were strangers.. strangely still remain as one

NAPOWRIMO- When hungry eat your rice, when tired close your eyes…..

She rubs her nose twitching her fine brows
Clad in sloppy dress
She sings dancing on her toes
Her khol eyes brighten just like her smile
Chirpy like a squirrel
She plays with broken pieces of tiles
Wait, I tell her,
Calling her out to speak,
Eat this dear, you look so weak
I buy all the candles that she wishes to be sold
Her happiness on her face is worth more than gold
I fancy not money, not food or any clothes
Her desire, she says is to one day be able to go that school down the road.
